Walter Reed Real Property Installed Equipment (RPIE) Survey
Our team conducted physical inventory and DMLSS data entry of 70,000 pieces of Real Property Installed Equipment, covering 4.6 million square feet of building space over 26 buildings.
The OutFit conducted and managed the physical inventory, data entry into the Defense Medical Logistics Standard Support (DMLSS) system, and preventive maintenance scheduling of equipment at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC). The contract accounted for 4.6 million square feet in 26 buildings, and the equipment was inventoried based on the guidance of the Real Property Support Systems (RPSS). The OutFit also conducted quality control on both the physical inventory and the DMLSS data input. This project utilized a multifaceted management approach that required clear and constant communication with direct and indirect subcontractors to ensure timeliness on reporting errors, reviewing DMLSS data, and corrective actions. In addition, we worked alongside a third-party Quality Assurance (QA) team in delivering an accurate inventory to the client. We accomplished this by conducting monthly site visits by the Program Manager (PM) and weekly meetings with and without the client to ensure the project stayed on schedule and within budget.
The inventory and tagging process included going to all rooms in each facility to identify and capture the equipment with the proper naming convention, as outlined in the RPSS. All available specifications, make, and model numbers for each piece of equipment were captured on a spreadsheet and entered into DMLSS. Once the equipment was in DMLSS, preventive maintenance was scheduled according to industry standards and the RPSS.
The quality assurance process entailed developing detailed data analytic reports from DMLSS and cross-checking in the field to ensure that all the specifications in the system were correct. Finally, all preventative maintenance procedures were reviewed to ensure they were scheduled in accordance with the RPSS.
